Poor access to vision care is a widespread problem with serious impacts on individuals, families, and communities.
- 16 million people in the U.S. have undiagnosed or uncorrected vision problems that could be fixed with eye glasses, contacts, or surgery. 1
- Kids who suffer untreated vision problems are more likely to struggle with academic performance, social development and self-confidence. 2
- Adults with vision impairments experience limited job opportunities, reduced mobility, social isolation, and a higher risk of chronic health conditions. 3
- In 2018, an estimated one third of students in Omaha Public Schools had an undiagnosed vision problem. 4
